Teenager Face Mask (for 13 - 16 years old) ON SALE WAS £12 - 50% OFF
It's a brave new world. A new 'normal'...! 100% cotton, two layers of cotton poplin with thick 12mm elastic and extra material to tighten - to protect others and our NHS!
In light of government guidance - face masks are now a thing! We have been advised to wear them in shops and on public transport.
Ours are 100% cotton poplin, tight fibre fabric in 2 layers.
These masks are designed for slightly older children - but do always check the measurments as each person is different!
These masks measure 16cm x 20cm.
We researched non-PPE masks and what is best...
How to clean?
Do wash after each use – don’t touch the material where possible once used (e.g. been to supermarket), handle by the elastic and put in the washing machine or steam after each use. You can also boil them in 60-degree water.
Why does this mask not have a filter pouch?
There is no evidence that an extra ‘filter’ is needed, and Doctors say as long as there is 2 layers of tightly woven fabric that cover your nose and mouth – this is enough.
The CDC’s sewn cloth face covering materials list calls for just two layers of “cotton fabric.” My research backs this up. A Cambridge University study in 2013 tested the effectiveness of homemade mask materials. Their conclusion was that one layer of cotton material and one layer of tightly woven cotton fabric was a better combination, and would each capture 61-69% of 1-micron particles, which is smaller than what we produce when we cough or sneeze (Atkinson, 2009).
The study found that a homemade face mask was MUCH better than no mask at all.
How to measure?
Check the mask will go at least 1cm over the nose and under the chin (the smallest measurment) and width wise, will go to about 1cm from the ear. ANY questions please ask.
I personally find it handy to cut out the sizes below on some paper and see if they'll cover the mouth and nose comfortably.
Size: 19x 13 cm
